Damian Barr, Chris Green and Laura Lockington

A Play in a room at Guesthouse West in association with Gate Theatre

Damian Barr, Chris Green and Laura Lockington at Guest Hotels

Event details

Damian, Chris and Laura have been commissioned by Guest Hotels to write a play about Lillie Langtry.

Damian Barr

Described as a literary Jackie Collins, Damian's expertise reaches well beyond mere literature and encompasses the wider media world with all the egalitarian charm of a Scottish Noel Coward.

Currently 'reader in residence' at a Shoreditch hotel, Damian is more usually a playwright, author and writer. He has written two plays for Radio 4, and a book 'Get It Together: Surviving Your Quarterlife Crisis', a self-help book for twenty-somethings. He specializes in lifestyle features and social trends, writing regularly for The Times, The independent on Sunday, Harpers Bazaar, Quintessentially, and Olive. He also sits on the CoolBrands Council and co-presents 'Cool In Your Code' (CiYC) for The Times' web tv channel.

In 2007, Damian was shortlisted for a British Press Award. He lives in Brighton.

Chris Green

Chris's hip-hop music hall veteran, Ida Barr, is a cross between Lilly Langtry and Beyonce; which makes Chris's appearance, at the Jones Theatre, quite obviously appropriate.

As well as writing his own material for the characters he has created, such as Ida Barr and Tina C., Chris has written for television (BBC, The Disney Channel, Sky One), radio (Radio 4), and theatre productions. Chris is also an artistic associate of the Duckie Collective, and will be appearing on Channel 4 as Danny La Rue in a forthcoming film on the life of Princess Margaret, by Touchpaper TV.
